Kovalev Playing with Koivu

Guy Carbonneau has shuffled things up for tonight's game...

Alex Kovalev is on a line with Chris Higgins and Saku Koivu, while Sergei Kostitsyn is playing his brother Andrei and Tomas Plekanec.

Thus far, the decision appears to be working out in Montreal's favour with Kovalev and Koivu clicking. The line is skating quite well and it just goes to show that when the game is on the line, a coach will usually put his players in the position with the greatest chance for success.

Pundits have often said that Kovalev and Koivu simply can't play together. They would also argue that the Kovalev-Plekanec-A Kositsyn line has been Montreal's bread and butter this year, but it hadn't been working and I'm glad to see that Carbo wasn't afraid to shake things up with the series on the line.

More to come!
