Hatred is setting in... fantastic
|
Tom Kostopoulos punched Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Kimmo Timonen in the face on Saturday after he appeared to say something following a Philly goal. We got a little taste of animosity between the Canadiens and Bruins, but I was waiting for something like this to happen against Philadelphia. A playoff series needs "a moment" to spice things up and spawn some hatred between the two clubs... That was potentially "the moment"... |
Flyers coach John Stevens called it a "cowardly act" on the part of Kostopoulos.
Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau responded by saying Timonen deserved the hit, and pointed out that no penalty was called. Carbo added that the Flyers are "one team that shouldn't talk...over 82 games, they had the most suspensions in the league."
Kostopoulos shouldn't have done it, but Carbonneau's right. Don't taunt the opposition and expect to get away unscathed. This is the postseason and that crap doesn't fly.
As for Stevens, he's got to be one of the worst coaches when it comes to blaming the opposition for anything that didn't go his way. If it's not the referees, it's the other players, coach, fans, you name it.
The best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal is tied at a game apiece, with Game 3 tonight in Philadelphia at 7 o'clock.
